Test Driving Tiny Home Living

Could you cook in a kitchen with only 3 pans? Buy groceries for two instead of six? What’s it like when your sink and shower are only divided by the size of a toilet? And is it okay to eschew the kitchen table for one on the patio that overlooks the sun rising over the mountains?

The practical advantages of tiny home living are great: cutting loose from a mortgage payment, becoming more energy-efficient, purging all the useless collections you’ve acquired and cutting down time spent on cleaning and maintenance. But what’s it like—really like—to change your lifestyle and live in a fraction of the surface area you’re used to?

Many Millennials and Gen X-ers have already abandoned traditional housing as the tiny home movement gained steam. But they weren’t the first ones to discover the independence of forgoing size for physical and financial freedom. RV-ers have been taking their lives on the road for generations, and many have hung up their spurs in favor of life in our tight-knit community. At Caliente Springs, the first full-time residents laid down roots on 400 square feet in 1985.

But what about all of those practical questions? Now, you can experience tiny home living at Caliente Springs Resort for yourself with a Discovery Stay weekend. You’ll stay in an outfitted park model and expand your living room into the desert. What do you think? Can you leave the excess of consumerism behind? For just a weekend, why not try? Throw caution to the wind, donate that closet of off-season clothes and embrace a free-wheeling minimalist lifestyle.

Welcome Home

Our team welcomes Discovery Stay trippers at the door, then leaves you the rest of the weekend to discover our resorts for yourself. Our amenities, like mineral-spring hot tubs and pools, activities and weekly chapel services, give you plenty of opportunities to meet the neighbors. By the end of the weekend, you’ll be calling them friends!

Because homes and RVs in our resorts are around the same size as your Discovery Stay tiny home, you can ask advice and see how other residents have organized their spaces to give you an even better idea of what it’s like in a tiny home. For our residents, community and quality of life here are expansive, so square footage doesn’t have to be.

If you’re not sure what there is to do in the area, we’ve got you covered there, too. In a 25 minute drive to Palm Springs, you’ll find even more entertainment, shopping, culture and sports just outside the door. Our residents enjoy easy access to the Coachella Valley while still living in the peace and quiet of a an off-the-beaten-path location. This makes it easy to have your meals outside, enjoy the fresh air and embrace the cool desert lifestyle.

Is a Tiny Home Your Dream?

For some, a tiny home is a worry-free weekend vacation home; others use it as a seasonal escape from harsh winters. And many of our residents have ditched the white picket fence and excessive square footage all together to embrace an uncluttered, active lifestyle.

What’s your dream? We’d like to help you make it come true.
